Running 26.2 miles in an organized race is a fantastic experience. Allan Wright, MarathonSkating.com’s administrator, is a big fan of running marathons and has completed the London, Moscow, Frankfurt, Boston, and Chicago events. You are dealing with running fans as well as skating fans when you are on this site.

At the same time, running can take a toll on your body. Using inline skating as a cross-training tool while you are preparing for a running marathon is a great choice. Skating still provides a great aerobic workout, builds up major leg muscles that are important in running, and has much lower impact on the knees and joints.

If you are not an inline skater yet, check out Camp Rollerblade, a series of two-day weekend camps for adult beginners in cities throughout the United States.

Many skaters racing in organized skate marathons have come from the ranks of runners. And why not? It takes only half the time to train for and complete a skate marathon. So come join us and take up a new marathon sport!
