Unlike a marathon, a skate tour is not in any way
a race. You will have three skating routes from which
to choose each day. The group will divide up based
on both ability level and how strong the desire is
to stop and smell the roses (drink cappuccinos, take
photos, or chat with the locals) along the way. You
might skate anywhere from 15 to 30 miles in a day
but you have all day to do it and will be easily distracted
by Amish buggies in Pennsylvania, the site of Lake
Tahoe shimmering in the distance, or Swiss mountain
men ambling down a country road.
Zephyr provides skating instruction
on all its tours, including instruction in its proprietary
Nine-Step Fitness Skating Clinic. Most skaters leave
a tour a much better skater than when they arrived.
Some even tell us the instruction alone was worth
the price of the tour.
For beginner and advanced beginner
skaters, Zephyr also offers Learn-to-Skate Camps.
These offer the same great hotels, meals, and activities
but the skating is focused on instruction. Learning
to skate in a vacation environment with a bunch of
other adult beginners is the best way to learn.
